It wasn’t inconclusive at all.
The defender slid in at him from the side and he tried to ride the challenge to avoid getting his leg broken but still got cleaned out.
Stonewall pen and Lanzini did absolutely nothing wrong

What was worse was Lanzini’s ban for a dive that was inconclusive. Some players get away with that 30+ times a season! Hasn’t happened since to anyone in virtually a whole season?

This is yet another case of the authorities wishing to be seen to be "doing something" (to justify their salaries) rather than actually doing something (of real benefit to the game).
It's rife across UK society and beyond - everybody wants to be a chief and boss the Indians around. They also want (or deserve, on account of that degree they sweated to get) an easy life.
As you state - they should be addressing the issues of most concern to the people who really pay their wages (that's NOT their employers). in order to keep that funding coming in.

His comments were supposedly of a ‘jokey nature’.
The penalty is on hold until he decides whether to appeal and West Ham statement says they are waiting for the written reasons.
I look forward to hearing them.
Unless he threatened , obstructed or was aggressively abusive to them I am not sure a penalty is appropriate.
